Testimonials

"We wanted to do something different during our holiday, and the SUP sessions at Rosebud Yacht Club were perfect. The kids loved it, and we all felt a great sense of accomplishment by the end of our lesson. Plus, knowing that part of our fee went to support the local hospital made it even better. We'll definitely be back next year!"

The Thompson Family

"Our family had the most amazing time at Rosebud Yacht Club's SUP event. None of us had tried Stand Up Paddle Boarding before, but the instructors made it so easy and fun. Paddling together on the calm waters of Rosebud and watching the sunset from the balcony afterward was truly magical. It's a memory we'll cherish forever!"

Sarah L. and Family

"I visited the Mornington Peninsula for the first time and decided to give SUP a try at Rosebud Yacht Club. The whole experience was fantastic. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the equipment was top-notch, and the views were stunning. I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon on the peninsula. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!"

What equipment do I need to start stand-up paddle boarding?

At Rosebud Yacht Club, we provide all the necessary equipment for our stand-up paddle boarding courses and classes. This includes the paddle board, paddle, leash, and personal flotation device (PFD). Just bring yourself and a readiness to have fun on the water!

Is stand-up paddle boarding difficult for beginners?

Stand-up paddle boarding is quite accessible for beginners. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the basics, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident on the board. Most people find they can stand and paddle within their first lesson.

What should I wear for stand-up paddle boarding?

We recommend wearing comfortable, quick-drying clothing suitable for water activities. In warmer weather, swimwear or board shorts and a rash guard work well. In cooler conditions, a wetsuit might be more appropriate. Don’t forget to bring a hat, sunscreen, and a towel.

How do I maintain balance while paddle boarding?

Maintaining balance on a paddle board involves a few key techniques:

  • Stand with your feet parallel and hip-width apart.
  • Keep your knees slightly bent.
  • Look at the horizon rather than your feet.
  • Use your core muscles to stay stable. Our instructors will provide detailed guidance and practice exercises to help you build confidence and balance.
Are there any safety tips I should follow while paddle boarding?

Yes, safety is our priority. Here are some key tips:

  • Always wear your personal flotation device (PFD).
  • Use a leash to stay connected to your board.
  • Be aware of weather and water conditions before heading out.
  • Stay within your skill level and close to shore if you’re a beginner.
  • Follow the instructions and guidance of our certified instructors at all times.
