Rosebud Yacht Club

Our Environment

Environmental Stewardship

At RoYC we firmly believe that we are in the best playground that you could ask for – outside, on the beach and in the water. There is no better place to get in touch with the world and engage in mindfulness than outside, surrounded by nature.
That comes with a great responsibility. We actively manage the area surrounding our club and engage in recycling practices, including Victoria’s Recycling Scheme. Before that though, we aim to reduce the amount of waste we produce by encouraging members to have recyclable water bottles and only using plates and cutlery that can be used again and again.
On the water we are often collecting rubbish that floats out, including inflatable toys that have been swept out to sea. Further to this we have also spent considerable time improving our resources to ensure that when we do use fossil fuels we do so in the most efficient way possible with modern technology. We are also looking to install solar panels in the future to make our club a carbon negative place to be, helping to reduce the impact on our world.
After all – we didn’t inherit the planet from our ancestors, we are borrowing it from our children. It is our job to ensure that we leave it in a better place than we found it.
