What a weekend…

Friends, Rosebudians, Countrymen…lend me your tools!

And on the weekend, you sure did.

On behalf of the Committee, and all members around the traps (because we will all use all the things), I want to say thank you to everyone for turning up and helping out. A multitude of jobs were ticked off, including:
Bar reinstalled, bolts replaced (still more to go!), painting completed under the tower/under windows/in the tower, gardening, balustrading bracing, sand movement, defib rehung, powerpoints installed, windows checked, painting of marks and tower balls, sandtrap cleaned out…the list goes on!

It was brilliant to see lots of people there helping out, and while we started the weekend with 573 jobs, we certainly nailed them down! There are still more to go, but through your efforts we made a massive dent.

So you all know, the biggest focus for us on the committee is the canteen – we are not allowed to open to sell food until this is completed, so we are pushing like mad to get this job done before the season opens. Every other job that is being done helps to lift the club, but the canteen is definitely our number 1 on the hit list. We are still looking for the correct new RIB, so we have no updates on that frontier, but the canteen is absolutely number 1. Putting it simply – no canteen, no season. So thank you to everyone for their work to improve this – I’ve seen people helping to hang the new colourbond ceiling, helping in rubbish disposal, benchtops, plumbing, general advice, electrical and windows. This is a big undertaking, but we are appreciative that you all understand the reason why we have to get this done.

Once again, thanks for all your help over the past few months. We know we have asked for everyone to pitch in over a range of working days, but this is how we continue to build the (r)Evolution!

On to the race

On to the raceShortly after the start, a solid wind shift made the windward leg more of a shy reach, which meant you could power towards the top end. Just make sure to allow for the tide - it was PUMPING past the mark in true, light-winds-at-Rosebud fashion. And once...
